Where to plant: Plant in a pot with drainage holes, and place in an area that gets indirect sunlight.

    1. Sprinkle a few seeds on top of the soil and cover very lightly.

    2. Mist regularly until you begin to see some sprouts.

    3. Once sprouted, water regularly, from the bottom* if possible.

*To do this, place your pot in a sink or tray with a few inches of room-temp water, and let the soil absorb the moisture until the top feels damp. Then, remove and drain any excess water.

  • This unique blend of an annual, biennial and perennial flower means you’ll have new blooms to enjoy at different times of the year.

Start indoors over 6-8 weeks to plant outdoors in summer or fall, or plant directly outdoors in spring before the last frost:

    1. Prepare the soil by loosening it with a garden fork.

    2. Rake soil to lightly cover seeds.

    3. Water area gently and keep consistently moist for 2-3 weeks.

    Indoor Planting:

    • Choose a large pot (at least 12–14 inches wide and 8 inches deep) with good drainage holes.

    • Use a light, well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for flowers or a blend of potting soil and perlite works well.

    • Lightly moisten the soil before planting.

    Planting Instructions:

    • Fill the pot almost to the top with soil, leaving about 1 inch of space.

    • Sprinkle the seeds, spacing them evenly across the surface:

    • Lightly press the seeds into the soil but do not bury them deeply - just barely cover.

    • Mist the surface gently with water to avoid disturbing the seeds.

    Location & Light:

    • Place the pot in a bright window (preferably south-facing) where it will receive at least 6–8 hours of light daily.

    • If natural light is weak, use a grow light set a few inches above the pot.

    Watering:

    • Mist or lightly water daily until seeds sprout to keep the soil moist but not soggy.

    • Once sprouted, water when the top inch of soil feels dry.

    After Sprouting:

    • Thin out if needed: once seedlings have a few leaves, gently remove the weakest ones, leaving enough space for plants to grow (aim for 3–4 inches between each plant).

    • Keep in a warm, bright spot and rotate the pot every few days to keep growth even.

    When: Begin indoors in Spring

    Blooms: Summer to fall

    1. Begin sowing your seeds indoors in the Spring, about 6-12 weeks before the last frost. Set up a tray with seed starting mix, anp sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil. If using a plastic seedling tray, plant one seed per slot. If planting in a division-free container, space the seeds 1/2 to 1 inch apart.

    2. Gently press the seeds into the soil (no deeper than 1/8 inch). For optimum growth potential, keep the soil in a warm area (about 21 degrees C).

    3. Gently water the seeds and keep soil damp, but not soggy.

    4. Once your plants have six or more leaves, it’s time to put them into a small pot about 2” (5 cm) in diameter, filled with fresh potting soil.

    5. Once your seedlings are about 3 inches tall and daytime temperatures consistently remain above freezing, you can begin placing them outside.Start by putting them outside in a shady area; then increase the amount of time in the sun each day, but bring them inside at night.

    6. After all danger of frost has passed, the seedlings can be planted in the ground in well-drained soil with full sun.

These seeds are sourced locally from Seafoam Lavender. Open-pollinated, herb & pesticide-free, their lavender farm practices organic farming methods and use bees and other native pollinators to ensure their seeds are genetically diverse.

    3. Gently press seeds into the soil, ensuring they are lightly covered.

    4. Water the area gently.

*For best chance of success, start sowing indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost and transplant outdoors in the spring. If starting indoors, use peat or coir pots to minimize root disturbance. Soak seeds in water for 24 hours prior to sowing. Sow shallowly, about 1/8″ deep, and maintain a cool soil temperature. Seeds should germinate in 14-60 days.

Plant directly outside in fall where winters are mild for blooms the following year.
